Does Wells Brothers deliver products?

Yes, but we try to stay within a 10-mile radius (as the crow flies) of the store. If the value of the products purchased is over $500, there is not a delivery charge. Under $500, there is a $20 delivery charge.

Can I exchange my propane tank here?

No, we do not do exchanges. However, we do refill propane tanks and charge by the gallon. As of this writing the price per gallon is $2.75.*

Am I too late to apply pre-emergent?

Yes and no. You want to apply pre-emergent when the majority of seeds are germinating.  Peak time for seed germination is the spring and fall. Because there is always a seed getting ready to germinate you can apply pre-emergent at any time.  But, you get the most bang for the buck in the spring and fall.

Should I put out fertilizer before it rains?

The short answer is no. You should always be in control of how much water you are putting on fertilizer (or any other product). Too much water causes run off, which can lead to salinity issues, algae bloom and a host of other conditions in ground water, rivers and lakes.

Why do I have to buy 4 or 8 pounds of rat poison?

In June 2011 the EPA changed the law on packaging requirements (among other things) in regards to rat and mouse poison.

What is the difference between hay and straw?

About $2.50. * Hay is grown for livestock food. Straw is what is left over after a crop has been harvested. In our area the majority is wheat straw. It is used for decoration, animal bedding, erosion control and a multitude of other things.

Should I feed my laying hens pellets or crumbles?

Pellets and crumbles will yield the same results from the bird. However, there tends to be less waste with pellets. Higher quality feed will produce better animals.

Can Wells Brothers special order products?

Yes, within the parameters of our vendors. All of our vendors charge freight and they all have minimums. We will combine special orders with regular store orders to make these minimums.

Does Wells Brothers sell chickens?

Yes, we have a number of chickens available in-store to purchase.
